    Description

Offered for sale is a beautiful
antique glass BISCUIT JAR, made by Consolidated Lamp & Glass Co.  Consolidated called this pattern CERISE when it's made in this pigeon-blood red color, but it is the same as the PARIS pattern they produced in other colors.  It is also known as TORQUAY. The pattern was introduced in 1898.
The glass part alone stands 5 1/2 inches (14.0cm) tall to the top of the finial knob, and measures 4 1/2 inches (11.4cm) in diameter at the rim.  The whole thing, with the metal parts attached, stands 11 inches (27.9cm) tall to the top of the bail, when the bail is raised as in the first picture.
The metal rim is loose, and lifts easily from the glass base (picture 5).   It was originally joined to the glass with plaster, and some is still present under the metal rim (picture 4).
The glass has one rim chip (pictures 6 and 7) that is concealed when the metal rim is attached.  Glass has no cracks, scratches or repairs.  The metal parts are silver plated, and the silver shows wear and darkening/oxidation.
